Education

  • Other trades certificate or diploma
  • Combined laboratory and X-ray technology

Work setting

  • Hospital medical laboratories

Tasks

  • Collect blood, tissue or other samples from patients
  • Examine the results of the tests
  • Prepare tissue sections for microscopic examinations
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests and sample analyses
  • Clean and maintain medical laboratory and laboratory equipment
  • Collect tissue specimens for chemical analysis and record findings

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses 

  • Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
