UNIT:  Union of Technical and Professional Office Employees of the City of Laval  

JOB POSTING NUMBER:   2766 

POSTING PERIOD:   Indeterminate

STATUS: Temporary

SERVICE: Environment and Eco-Citizenship   

SALARY:   Class 10 - $35.90 / Hour

SCHEDULE:   8:15 AM to 5:30 PM for 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday) for a total of 33 hours/week

WORK LOCATION:   Environmental Control, Animal Management and Sanitation, 480 BOUL ARMAND-FRAPPIER Laval H7V 4B4 

DURATION: STARTING FROM MARCH 30, 2026 FOR A MAXIMUM OF TWENTY-FOUR (24) WEEKS

 

The challenges that await you

You conduct inspections by taking samples or gathering information, then analyzing the collected elements as part of investigations aimed at ensuring compliance with municipal regulations.

You perform various technical and analytical tasks necessary for the application of municipal regulations under the Service's responsibility as well as for the implementation of projects related to environmental protection in the Laval territory.

You intervene to inform or raise awareness among the concerned parties about the current standards and regulations and to correct non-compliant situations. You write visit reports or any other required documents according to the nature of the cases handled.

 

    • You carry out various measurements, including noise levels, compile the collected data, and analyze the results.
    • You write technical documents, such as inspection reports detailing the findings, compile data, and produce analyses and statistics of various types.
    • You handle and investigate all requests or complaints, perform the necessary verifications, and ensure follow-up so that standards are respected by citizens, industries, businesses, and institutions (ICI).
    • You communicate and collaborate with employees from other divisions, Services, and external organizations. You provide the requested information, compile the received data, and ensure quality control.
    • You prepare the necessary documentation for evidence, inform the lawyers of the Legal Affairs Service, and may act as a witness in court.
The ideal profile for us

 

    • Hold a college diploma (DEC) in environment, occupational health and safety, or a field related to environmental sciences or other related fields relevant to the position;
    • Have two (2) years of relevant experience in inspections, analyses, environmental recommendations, as well as the application of policies, regulations, and procedures related to the environment;
    • Have experience in customer service;
    • Having training in construction site safety (SST) is an asset;
    • Hold a valid class 5 driver's license.
